<\/figure>\n\n\n\nThe first presentation addressed the Palestinian issue through the key points of an entire historical process\u2026.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Comrades and friends<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Palestinian issue is one of the most tragic but also heroic chapters in modern history. It is the story of an entire people who have been fighting for decades for their land, their dignity, their very lives \u2014 against the barbarity of imperialism and zionism. The history of the Palestinian cause, from the early decades of the 20th century to recent developments, highlights two very fundamental issues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The first is that the drama of the Palestinian people for decades now has not only not ceased or diminished, but has led to a case of genocide, occupation, and increased barbarism, with the responsibility and encouragement of the main imperialist powers of the West and the tolerance and agreement of even their fiercest competitors. As a result, today we see crocodile tears being shed by the bourgeoisie and imperialists everywhere, as well as by those who supposedly fight through the international community and the UN for the recognition of the Palestinian state, while at the same time arming and supporting the murderous state of Israel and suppressing any voice of solidarity. A clear example is the imperialists of the EU, who are brutally cracking down in their own countries, prosecutions, and arrests, on charges of alleged anti-Semitism, anyone who dares to speak of a free Palestinian state from the Jordan River to the Mediterranean Sea, while at the same time supposedly promoting the failed two-state solution based on the 1967 borders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The second key issue that emerges from the historical course of the Palestinians’ struggle and efforts to have a state and national identity is that the only moments when the Palestinians managed to determine their fate were not in any international organizations or the supposedly humanitarian and independent imperialist bodies and institutions, but rather when they took up arms and relied on their own strength to fight for their independence and freedom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n These two conclusions must be our starting point if we are to approach the historical trajectory of the Palestinian question, as well as the most recent developments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Today, Palestine is once again at the center of attention, prompted by the US’s attempt to promote its plans on better terms in the Middle East. Based on these same plans, they are accelerating pressure for the further NATOization of Cyprus, the further dependence of its economy using the EEZ and its use as a vehicle, as was the case with the latest developments in the Middle East, as a military base of broad importance for the region. These plans are based on the division of the island and perpetuate it, as they do not want an independent island but an unsinkable aircraft carrier that will serve their plans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Trump’s supposed peace, which was so heavily promoted by the global media, is nothing more than a temporary respite in the midst of an ongoing occupation. The ceasefire, which many were quick to label a victory for the Palestinians and thus justify the American system that was desperately trying to present Trump as a peacemaker, has been reduced to a worthless piece of paper, with dozens of Palestinians dead in Gaza, demolition machinery entering the Strip, and intensified attacks on Palestinians in areas of the West Bank. Israel continues to bomb at will, invade, impose blockades, and murder. Gaza is de facto divided, with the northern part, the so-called “yellow zone,” under the occupation of the Israeli IDF, while the southern part survives in ruins, with humanitarian aid coming in dribs and drabs, cut off from the other half by the occupying state. Attacks and settlement plans in the West Bank are intensifying, with military cover and political support from the US. This “peace,” then, is not peace\u2014it is a regime of continuous low-intensity warfare, a mechanism for the ongoing extermination of the Palestinian people. Based on Trump’s 20-point proposal and the failed meeting organized by the US in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, on the issue, it appears that there is an intensifying effort and plan to gain complete control of the Middle East. Despite the absurdities surrounding the peace conference, it is clear that the Trump administration seeks to support its bulldog. It wants to help Israel break its strategic deadlock. After two years, Israel has failed to make any real progress in breaking the Palestinian resistance. It also wants to restart the Abraham Accords, which is basically getting the other Arab regimes in the area to recognize the Zionist regime. Finally, it aspires to counter the influence of its strategic rivals on the planet, Russia and China, which are making efforts to develop in the region. The failure of this agreement also lies in the persistent statements and announcements of the Palestinian resistance. The resistance does not accept disarmament and foreign guardianship in Gaza and, as it characteristically states, will only hand over its weapons to a Palestinian government elected by its people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The plan is clear:<\/p>\n\n\n\n A new architecture of domination, with Israel in an upgraded role as military guardian, with Arab regimes as local overseers, and with the Palestinian people either displaced, subjugated, or exterminated. This is the core of the so-called “Pax Trumpiana,” as they were quick to call it, not peace, but the tombstone of the Palestinian issue. But what exists and is intensifying is an impasse on the Palestinian issue, which is not isolated. It is an expression of the overall impasses of imperialism and inter-imperialist rivalries. The US, despite its military superiority, cannot stabilize any region. The Middle East is a field of confrontation with Russia and China, but also of internal rifts between the Arab regimes themselves: Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Turkey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The “front against Iran” is fragile. Although Turkey belongs to the West, it is acting contradictorily, seeking to maintain relations with Moscow as well. The European imperialists are trying to play a role each one for themselves and in opposition to each other.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In this mess, Palestine is once again the place that reveals the crisis of imperialism. Because even with the genocide, the massacres, and the attacks, its people didn’t give up. Instead, they have continued to resist, to take up arms, to organize, to claim their land. And this is the greatest failure of imperialism: that a people without a state, without an army, without allies at the international bourgeois level, continues to exist and to fight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n We will take a historical look back at the most crucial issues that have marked the Palestinian struggle, because we believe that some useful conclusions can be drawn for the current situation and the prospects for this struggle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The history of Palestine is one of constant expulsion, occupation, and resistance. From the very first Arab uprising of the Palestinians between 1936 and 1939 against the British colonialists and the increasing purchase of land and immigration by Jews to the region. This uprising took on widespread characteristics with general strikes, armed conflicts, and the basic demand for an end to British presence and independence. The uprising was drowned in blood and suppressed. The vacuum left by the collapse of the Ottoman Empire was filled by the British, and then, with their gradual weakening and the entry of the US onto the scene, there was a shift, and with Israel as their vehicle, the Americans, now imperialists, took a dominant role in the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n After the end of World War II, in 1947, Resolution 181 of the newly formed UN (1945) was passed, dividing Palestine into two separate states: one Arab and one Jewish. This resolution was supported not only by the major imperialist powers that were on the winning side of the war, but also by the Soviet Union at that time. This wrong decision by the Soviet leadership has been used several times as a false argument, a crutch, and a prop by many forces on the left to support the line for the so-called two-state solution today. Although the situation is quite different from that of 1947, we must bear in mind that the main reason for this recognition by the Soviet Union was the Jewish question. This was a particular issue at that time, with memories of the Holocaust still fresh in people’s minds, which was a recent event and required some solution to the desires of the persecuted Jews for a homeland. These desires, of course, were poisoned by the nationalist and fascist venom of zionism, of the chosen and superior people who have the right of life and death over other peoples, and found expression in the support of the imperialists and their plans in the Middle East. Furthermore, the Soviet leadership was assessing and pursuing the possibility of establishing relations with this new Jewish state and whether it would develop into an anti-imperialist state, since the influence of communist and socialist ideas among the Jewish community worldwide was strong, with Jews in European countries having actively participated in partisan movements and resistance to Nazism. These assessments were quickly disproved, as Britain and the US emerged as key factors behind Israel, and Zionism rapidly became the dominant expression of the Israeli state’s bulldog stance. This decision by the USSR changed in the years that followed (1950) with its support for anti-colonial and national liberation movements in Syria, Iraq, and Egypt, but also with the rapprochement between Israel, the US, and Europe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In 1948, the establishment of the State of Israel marked the Nakba, the great catastrophe of Palestinian society. 750,000 Palestinians were expelled from their homes by zionist militias and over 500 villages were deserted. All Arab Palestinians automatically became stateless, and the Israeli state revoked Palestinian citizenship since there was no longer a unified Palestinian state. The very concept of a Palestinian state is rendered meaningless by the Israelis after the creation of Israel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The state of Israel, born out of the blood and displacement of the Palestinians, was never a “victim” or “defender.” From the outset, it was the outpost of Western imperialism in the Middle East. A military bridgehead for the US and Britain, set up there to control the peoples, the oil routes, to encircle their opponents and to stifle any liberation movement in the region. The desire for national liberation against Israel and foreign imperialist powers is linked to the growth of the left and radical ideas in the Arab world. The founding of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) in 1964 marked a new period of struggle for the Palestinians, with a guerrilla movement inside and outside Israel and a support base in the refugee camps of thousands of displaced people. However, within the PLO there are also more conciliatory and moderate forces that create illusions among the Palestinians. At the same time, in a number of Arab states that initially supported the Palestinian struggle, the imperialists of the US are beginning to gain increased political influence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n With the Six-Day War in 1967, Israel occupied the West Bank, Gaza, and East Jerusalem, dividing Palestine in two. The Six-Day War showed the peoples of the region, especially the Palestinians, that they must rely on their own strength. It showed the limits of the bourgeoisie and how quickly they were willing to lean on the US. Since then, its expansionism has continued unabated, with settlements, fences, blockades, and assassinations. And all this with the weapons, dollars, and military and political equipment of the US and the EU. The creation of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, PFLP, in 1967 by Habash, but also by other left-wing forces, set the tone for the struggle against the logic of compromise and support for international imperialist formations. Thus, with the Camp David Accords of 1979, brokered by the US and leading to Egypt’s recognition of the State of Israel, there are two different lines within Palestine: one, that of Fatah, which accepts the terms of the major powers and tries to rely on the Arab regimes, and the other, the line of resistance (also known as the “front of refusal”) from the Popular Front, the Democratic Front, etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Palestinians’ search for support from Arab regimes has not only failed, but on the contrary, Egypt, Jordan, and Syria, with the help of Lebanese paramilitary forces, are crushing Palestinian resistance and openly murdering Palestinians in refugee camps in Arab countries. Thousands are killed by the Syrian army in the Tel Al-Zaatar refugee camp (1976) and in the Sabra and Shatila camps (1982) in Lebanon, the Israeli army, together with Lebanese paramilitary forces, carried out the largest massacre of civilians in modern human history. Between 2,500 and 3,000 dead, refugees and displaced persons were the victims of this atrocity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Nevertheless, the decline of the left globally and in the region, the change of course and transformation of the USSR into a social-imperialist power, and the rise of Islamist political forces that took advantage of the leftist vacuum have resulted in a major setback for the Palestinian struggle for freedom and homeland. The first Intifada, which began spontaneously in 1987 following the killing of Palestinian workers by tanks, took on widespread characteristics, with strikes and clashes with the occupying army, and a people resisting the occupiers with stones and slingshots. The momentum of the widespread uprising brought to the fore the forces of radical Islam, such as Hamas, and Fatah lost control. The rebellious Palestinians, who refuse to back down, create a political problem for the occupying and foreign forces in the region. Israel changes its stance and, at the suggestion of the US, approaches Arafat, leader of Fatah and the PLO, who, following an agreement, recognises the state of Israel in exchange for a rudimentary administration of the PLO in what remains of Palestine. Thus, the Palestinian movement is being sold out and we are being led to the treacherous Oslo Accords of 1993 and 1995, in which the West concedes to the Palestinian Authority the administration of 22% of Palestinian territories. This agreement and the course of the forces of compromise to date have led to the creation of a layer of Palestinians with political representation recognized by the imperialists and which is essentially the fifth column of the Palestinian movement. Fatah and the Palestinian Authority have ended up being collaborators who undermine the Palestinian struggle and oppose Palestinian resistance. They are traitors to the struggle who trade their stance for privileges and comforts, while the majority of Palestinians live in famine, conditions of genocide, and are murdered every day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Oslo Accords did not bring about any significant change for the majority of the Palestinian people, except for the privileged few who signed them. On the contrary, the settlements continue to expand aggressively, spreading across Palestinian territory and the West Bank, and the Israelis continue to oppress and steal the livelihoods and land of the Palestinians.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In 2000, the then Prime Minister of Israel, Ariel Sharon, provocatively visited the sacred Al-Aqsa Mosque, where people of other faiths are forbidden to enter, sparking demonstrations in which the police killed seven protesters in cold blood. The second Intifada broke out, a general strike was called, and Palestinians attacked military targets with stones and slingshots. Israel responds with bullets and bombs and targets the leadership of the leftist forces, killing leaders of the Popular Front. In 2002, Fatah signs a ceasefire, but the resistance forces continue their activities. In 2003, the Wall is built, cutting off Palestinians from many areas, and the settlements and marginalization of Palestinians from their few lands continue. To defuse the situation, in 2004 Israel withdrew its settlers and army from Gaza. Hamas, which has played an important role in the resistance, is gaining more and more trust from the Palestinian masses, resulting in its victory in the 2006 Palestinian Authority elections. The West, using Fatah and the blockade of Gaza as a vehicle, is trying to destabilize the palestinian resistance. In 2007, Fatah called for early elections and, when Hamas refused, overthrew the government in a coup, outlawed Hamas, and imprisoned its members of parliament. Nevertheless, the resistance continues. Every child who throws a stone at an Israeli soldier, every woman who refuses to leave her home, every person who resists the blockade of Gaza, is part of the same struggle, the struggle for a free, united, independent Palestinian state, from the Jordan River to the Mediterranean Sea, with Jerusalem as its capital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n We believe that the history of the Palestinian struggle should guide the tasks of the peoples’ struggle today. The beginning of the genocide and destruction of the Palestinian people was not October 7, 2023. Because, as we have extensively reported, Israel, backed by the imperialists, has been murdering and stealing from the Palestinian people for decades. October 7 was a movement of resistance by a people that has been slaughtered, starved, and marginalized for decades now. What the imperialists and the bourgeoisie everywhere, as well as the fascist Israeli entity, cannot bear is that there is Palestinian resistance fighting for freedom and independence. This is what all of them cannot forgive the Palestinians for. That they are fighting with weapons for their right to life and their homeland. That is why they rage when Palestinian flags appear at solidarity demonstrations. That is why they furiously attack anyone who stands in solidarity with the Palestinian resistance. For the same reason, they applaud the international community and the forces of subjugation which, together with bourgeois governments, recognize Israel’s right to self-defense and existence. Because they know full well that the recognition of this artificial tool-state by the great powers is a condition for them to get their hands on the peoples of the region and the Middle East as a whole. It is not only the Western imperialists who stand against the Palestinian people. There are imperialists everywhere, who put aside their differences when they see national liberation movements and resistance movements insisting on fighting. That is why the Russian imperialists, the strategic rivals of the US, welcomed Trump’s 20-point plan for Palestine through Putin. Because above all, they agree on disarming the Palestinian resistance, which sets an example and inspires people around the world that imperialism is not invincible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Today, faced with the new genocide being committed by the terrorist state of Israel, we cannot and must not remain silent. Because behind every bomb that falls on Gaza are the US, Britain, the EU, those who arm, support, and cover up the crime. They are the same people who are bleeding peoples everywhere: in Ukraine, in Syria, in Yugoslavia, which is torn apart and burdened with manufactured enmities, in Iraq, in Afghanistan. They are the same people who, while supposedly horrified by the famine in Gaza and the humanitarian aid that never arrives, continue to arm and support the murderous state of Israel in every way possible, promoting it as a partner and participant in all international organizations, strengthening it, legitimizing it. We must be clear that without this overwhelming support for the Israeli state from imperialism, this entity could not stand and exist in the region. If, after two years of extensive operations, it is still unable to break the Palestinian resistance and the Palestinian people, who are fighting barefoot against tanks and causing them problems, let us imagine what it would have achieved without the economic and military support of the US and the West.<\/p>\n\n\n\n On this basis, and in an effort to highlight this issue, namely the need to support the armed Palestinian resistance, which is currently the only force that can create conditions beneficial to the Palestinian people, we, the CPG (m-l), took the initiative to issue a joint statement supporting the Palestinian struggle in the direction of the struggle and fight for a unified Palestinian state from the Jordan River to the Mediterranean Sea, within the borders of historic Palestine, where all ethnic groups can live in harmony with each other, independent of imperialism and with the people as masters of their own land. We are particularly pleased that, despite the difficult situation of the international communist movement, organizations from Australia, Colombia, neighboring Turkey, France, Ireland, Malta, and Norway share our belief that only the struggle of the peoples can today put a stop to the bloodstained plans of imperialism. They do not fall into the trap of the bankrupt two-state solution, which recognises and legitimises imperialism and its choice to set up a state as an advanced bulwark of its interests. They fight and support this line in demonstrations, rallies, and initiatives in their countries, defying state terrorism, persecution, and repression.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Because justice for the Palestinian struggle and, more broadly, the achievement of the rights of the peoples of the Middle East will not come from the negotiating table, nor from the Security Council, nor from the imperialists who talk about “human rights” while their hands are stained with the blood of the peoples.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The liberation of Palestine and the fulfillment of the aspirations of the peoples of the Middle East will only come through resistance, through the struggle of the peoples for freedom and independence, through the unity of the oppressed against their exploiters and oppressors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n So we stand alongside the Palestinian people and shout loudly:<\/p>\n\n\n\n Freedom for Palestine!<\/p>\n\n\n\n A free Palestinian state, from the Jordan River to the Mediterranean Sea.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Hands off the peoples!<\/p>\n\n\n\n Imperialists out of the Middle East!<\/p>\n\n\n\n Because the struggle of Palestine is also our struggle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Because no people is free while other peoples are enslaved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The second presentation attempted to answer the question of what is triggering this wave of solidarity around the world\u2026 <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Comrades and friends<\/p>\n\n\n\n What sparks this global wave of solidarity that has been expressed over the last two years in support of the Palestinian people? What is it that makes millions of people to walk the streets again and again, and in many cases face harsh police violence, arrests, imprisonment, and even deportation\u2014as the US did to immigrant students? And what triggers the state’s fury against protesters and those who defend the Palestinian struggle? The answers may seem obvious, but we would like to repeat them, even if they are obvious.<\/p>\n\n\n\n First of all, there is the magnitude of Zionist brutality. <\/strong>The two years of genocide in Gaza, with tens of thousands of dead people and thousands of dead children, hundreds of thousands of displaced persons, the famine and the flattened Gaza, which shock people all over the world, are only the most recent manifestation of Israel’s murderous actions against the Palestinian people. These actions have been going on for decades, as comrade Dimitris briefly mentioned. The brutality and barbarity with which an entire people has been treated for decades, driven from their homes or watching them turn into a huge prison, is beyond even the most morbid imagination. And they cannot leave anyone unmoved. What is even more infuriating is that all this is being done in the name of Israel’s self-defense, labeling the Palestinians as terrorists, but also by using the Holocaust as an excuse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n But it’s not just that. It’s the widespread belief among the people\u2019s conscience that the Palestinian struggle is a just one<\/strong>. It is the struggle of a nation for freedom, for the recognition of its right to have its own state within the borders of historic Palestine. It is a struggle against the occupation of its land by the terrorist state that the imperialists planted in the Middle East to serve their own interests and effectively control a region critical to their economic and geostrategic interests. It is a struggle that faces the brutality and undisguised barbarity of Zionist Israel. Brutality that is generously and openly supported by the imperialists, especially the USA. It is a struggle that has lasted for decades, despite the repeated sellouts of its leaders, as well as the leaders of Arab countries, and despite the unequal terms under which it is being waged. It is the struggle of a determined, unyielding people who do not give up, who stand up to the most powerful forces on the planet, against all the apparent odds. It is a struggle against imperialism and barbarism.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n And for all these reasons, it is an INSPIRING<\/strong> struggle. It gives strength and courage to all peoples around the world who suffer from capitalist and imperialist barbarism. It openly challenges the regime of fear, defeatism, and fatalism cultivated by the forces of the system. It meets the anger and fighting spirit that prevail and spread among the masses. It aligns itself with the mass struggles and uprisings that are erupting everywhere on the planet. It tears apart the mask of the supposedly democratic and supposedly civilized Western world. A world of oppression and exploitation, a world in crisis, seeking a way out by uprooting the rights and achievements of the people and the workers, by promoting the most reactionary and backward ideas, the far right and fascism. A world of fierce competition, which creates the conditions for widespread carnage, a world war.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In the struggle of the Palestinian people, workers, peoples, and youth recognize ideals that the rotten capitalist-imperialist system cannot give them. They recognize the collective, mass, popular struggle and its power, as opposed to the individualism and isolation promoted by the Western world. The self-sacrifice and determination for the common goal of liberation and the end of occupation. The bond between a people and their land and place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n And in this sense, the struggle of the Palestinian people offers lessons and support to every popular fighter, to every progressive person. It is a struggle that lights the way for peoples and youth, in the same way that the Polytechnic uprising, 52 years ago, and the Greek people’s struggle against the dictatorship did.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u2022 And it is a struggle that refuses to lay down its arms. Literally. An armed struggle that understands clearly that if it lays down its arms, it will be signing its own historical condemnation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In an interview given in 1976, Georges Habas, Secretary General of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, stated: “Our liberation will only come through our rifles. Twenty years after 1948, our people were begging for political rights in the corridors of the United Nations. And what did we achieve? No one paid any attention to us, and we ‘lost’ those twenty years. Now we must know that political and diplomatic struggles are not enough to fulfill our rights. Diplomatic and political action can only bear fruit when it is supported by armed struggle.”<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n Today, 77 years after 1948, this observation remains true. And how could it be any different, when this people faces a well-armed enemy, relentlessly armed by its imperialist protectors with the aim of annihilating the Palestinians? It is no coincidence that the main element of Trump’s 20-point proposal was the disarmament of Palestinian organizations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Of course, for Western propaganda, an armed people is equivalent to “terrorists” and armed revolutionary violence, the real self-defense of a people, is equivalent to “terrorism.” What hypocrisy from the greatest slaughterers of peoples! But also, what fear in the face of the prospect of the strengthening of revolutionary ideas and popular struggles!<\/p>\n\n\n\n The connection between the Palestinian national cause and the communist ideals of social liberation and the working class that embodies them, has always represented the greatest danger to those in power. And this remains true to this day, even as we walk on the ground of defeat and retreat of the communist movement. It has been a key concern of the imperialists all these years to strike at the revolutionary left-wing organizations in Palestine, mainly the Popular Front and the Democratic Front, as they were the ones who stood against the line of compromise promoted by Fatah. This is why the West and the Zionists themselves helped to strengthen Hamas and Islamist organizations. Something they now systematically conceal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Those who target Hamas today are targeting the entire Palestinian resistance and its supporters, regardless of their ideological position. Those who want to present the genocide of the Palestinian people as a “war between Israel and Hamas” want to trap people’s thinking in the dominant narrative according to which, on the one hand there is the “barbarity of Islamist terrorists” and on the other the supposed “right to self-defense” of the terrorist state. Through this convenient framework for imperialists and their subordinates, the perpetrator is equated with the victim, the oppressors continue to reproduce their domination, and the oppressed continue to die in silence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The blackmailing of left-wing forces, anti-war movements, and peoples who express their solidarity with the Palestinian cause has been there from the outset and has continued unabated for the last two years: “Do you condemn the terrorist attack of October 7th<\/sup> 2023?” “Do you condemn Hamas or not?” “Are you on the side of the terrorists?”<\/p>\n\n\n\n What is being sought is not simply the whitewashing of the fascist-Zionists and their imperialist supporters. In essence, they are demanding declarations of loyalty and renunciation of the violence that the Palestinian people are historically obliged to perform against those, who deprive them of all their rights, their just war against the occupier, their national liberation struggle which, in order to exist and develop as such, has no choice but to use armed means. And there are many who succumb to the blackmail.<\/p>\n\n\n\n We as CPG(m-l), we declare that we fully support the national liberation struggle in Palestine and stand in solidarity with the heroic Palestinian people. However, this does not mean that we agree with the methods of struggle that may be used by forces within the struggle. Furthermore, we can maintain the independence of our opinion and use the weapon of criticism against the characteristics of forces participating in this struggle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The advancement of the just Palestinian resistance, the solidarity of the peoples with it without compromise, far from the logic of equal distances, is also the only way to clarify the views and practices within it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Comrades and friends<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u2022 The entire process and methodology of expelling the Palestinians from their land proves what the Palestinian people are up against, is not simply the Zionist murderous state of Israel. It is the plan of the Western imperialists to establish a state tailored to their demands and needs for control of the Middle East. From the Sykes-Picot Agreement of 1916 and the Balfour Declaration of 1917, to the suppression of the Palestinian Revolution in 1939 and the recognition of the Zionist state in 1948, it is clear that Zionist Israel is an imperialist creation, well studied and premeditated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Supported initially by the British imperialists and later by the US, the Zionists became the willing agents, the valuable long arm of Western imperialism in the region. And for their domination, it was and continues to be a necessary condition to expel the Palestinians until their final disappearance from the region, the so-called “final solution”. <\/strong>The Zionist\u2019s vision of total domination, the “final solution”, grew stronger and stronger over the years of uninterrupted support for the Zionist entity by Western imperialism. And Israel’s victory in the Six-Day War of 1967, with the support of the US, gave a significant boost to the Zionist tendencies that envisioned the “final solution”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Current developments confirm in the clearest possible way that this plan is being implemented without pause and with even more overt rhetoric. Israel will never recognize a Palestinian state, Netanyahu declares, and he is not only echoing his own views, but also the decades-long history of this entity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n History itself has proven whether the Zionist state can coexist with a Palestinian state. That is why the so-called “two-state solution,” which provides for “recognition of a Palestinian state within the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital”, <\/em>is a historically bankrupt position, <\/strong>a delusion. Or, to put it more accurately, it is a DECEPTION that is consciously cultivated and serves very specific purposes and goals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n First and foremost, it recognizes the state of Israel! <\/strong>In other words, it accepts the decades of murderous terrorist activity of a state that was set up by imperialists with very particular specifications, which it continues to implement to this day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Secondly, it takes for granted, accepts, and legitimizes the occupation, the settlements, and the uprooting of refugees that Israel had imposed until then. <\/strong>It asks the Palestinian people to forget the land that was stolen from them and to give up any claim to it. To accept the predatory and murderous actions of their conquerors and to believe that, after this, everything will be over.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Thirdly, and most critically, it requires the Palestinian people to renounce their armed national liberation struggle <\/strong>and to rely on the supposedly “peaceful” processes and decisions of international organizations such as the UN. They demand that the Palestinian people believe the guarantees that the imperialists, the very ones who have been feeding and supporting the murderous state all these years, will supposedly give them. In other words, they demand that the Palestinian people accept and adopt the submissive, treacherous stance of the Palestinian Authority and Fatah, which leads from retreat to retreat and from defeat to defeat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n But it is also a politically bankrupt position. <\/strong>Those who continue to promote this position\u2014each for their own reasons\u2014pretend not to see a series of realities, the current facts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n They pretend not to see the position of the US, which openly supports the Zionist murderers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n They “forget” that Trump himself (the peacemaker!) proceeded in December 2017 in recognizing Jerusalem as the official capital of Israel and moved the US embassy to Jerusalem in May 2018.<\/p>\n\n\n\n They conveniently forget that the US canceled Mahmoud Abbas’s visa and blocked his participation (yes, Abbas!) in the UN General Assembly last September.<\/p>\n\n\n\n They conveniently forget that Trump is spearheading plans to evacuate Gaza of Palestinians.<\/p>\n\n\n\n They supposedly “forget” Merz’s words, who openly admitted that Israel “does the dirty work” on behalf of the West and declared “unlimited respect for what the Israeli army does”!<\/p>\n\n\n\n Do they consider that the 750,000 settlers in the West Bank\u2014a well-paid, normally armed and fanatical section of Israelis who are usurping Palestinian land and systematically increasing in number thanks to the policies of the Israeli government, creating political realities, will withdraw so easily?<\/p>\n\n\n\n Or do they not see that a series of dependent bourgeois classes in the region (including the local ruling class) are rapidly aligning themselves with US-Israeli interests, even if this puts them in a difficult position?<\/p>\n\n\n\n The only real answer lies in the slogan that dominates the consciousness of the Palestinian people: “A single Palestinian state, from the river to the sea.” <\/strong>A slogan calling for the continuation of the mass armed national liberation struggle until the liberation of Palestinian land, the expulsion of the occupying forces and settlers, the establishment of an independent Palestinian state within the historic borders of Palestine, and the return of the refugees. These are the points that constitute and keep alive the struggle of the Palestinian people. We believe that this is the overall perspective for the peoples of historic Palestine, and that the existence and recognition of the murderous Zionist state has no place in it. In this perspective, we see Arabs, Palestinians, and Jews coexisting as equals with full rights. Of course, it is the struggles of the Palestinians, as well as broader international developments and region developments, that will provide the framework and the means for the two peoples to coexist. In this context, it is the inalienable right of all refugees to return to their ancestral homes and find their place in the new state. The communist movement must link this struggle for the creation of a free and independent homeland for the Palestinians with the cause of social liberation, so that independence paves the way for a society without exploitation of people by people and the construction of a new social system that supports and guarantees the independence of this country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u2022 Those who advocate a return to the 1967 borders are proposing something that will never happen.<\/strong> And if they achieve anything, it is to disorient the Palestinian people from the line of continuing their struggle for a free homeland, free from the boot of the Zionist occupying forces. At the same time, they are distracting the masses around the world who want to stand by the Palestinian people and their struggle. Because, above all else, this position is even used by imperialist powers or sections of the bourgeoisie as a lever to serve their own particular interests in the region, to build relations with the Arab world, and to compete with other imperialists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n We saw this happen again in recent months with a number of imperialist and non-imperialist countries (mainly France and England) declaring that they would recognize a Palestinian state. And along with this, we saw once again the unfolding of a misguided perception that lies behind such moves and that it either cultivates the illusion that the contradictions between the imperialists of the West are a privileged field of intervention, in the service of the cause of the peoples, or\u2014even worse\u2014empowers bourgeois and imperialist forces to “solve” the problem by turning the Palestinian struggle solidarity movement into a bargaining chip in the hands of the bourgeoisie and the imperialists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n We have seen this expressed within the solidarity movement, with the cultivation of illusions about a series of activist actions such as the “MTG” and the “Sumud flotilla”. With the dominance of perceptions that obscure or reverse reality and the necessary hierarchies. Which consider, for example, that activism can replace the need for a mass popular movement or that media coverage is enough to pressure governments to change their policies and attitudes\u2014especially on such issues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n And this is something that must be made clear to anyone who wants to contribute to the development of the labor and popular movement: In times of war\u2014when people are being slaughtered by the weapons of imperialists and their lackeys, and when the conditions for a generalized military confrontation are being prepared\u2014there is no room for illusions. Issues must be viewed in their true dimension, the real nature of developments and correlations must be highlighted and, above all, the real and only way to change things: the mass mobilization of the people, the strengthening of the struggle in every country. Even the issue of solidarity with the Palestinian people is an issue that is decided by popular mobilization in every country, against policies that support genocide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Reproducing illusions about the role of governments and bourgeois forces in the Palestinian issue does not help the political clarification of the needs of the popular movement. The opinion that the popular movement can hope to exploit intra-bourgeois contradictions sows confusion and defeatism. For this to happen, it must first and foremost have the necessary political correlation, build on a solid as possible political basis, and have a clear understanding of where it wants to take things. And we are far from that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The view expressed by Palestinian activists in the excellent documentary ’48’ is absolutely correct: what they need is not simply our solidarity, but for us to develop our own struggle against exploitation and oppression. In other words, to strengthen the popular and worker’s struggle in every country. To strengthen the struggles against capitalist aggression and imperialist barbarity. The central task must be to strengthen the anti-war and anti-imperialist struggle, to build a mass movement against imperialism and war. This struggle is the most genuine solidarity, the alliance that the Palestinian people and their struggle need.<\/p>\n\n\n\n And especially in our country, where the dependent local ruling class has turned it into a vast military base, a death camp, which is being upgraded and dangerously reinforced. With NATO ships and aircraft carriers using the Souda base on a daily basis. With the promotion of plans for greater alignment of the countries of the southeastern Mediterranean with the US war plans. With the promotion of plans to integrate Cyprus into NATO and turn the island into an “unsinkable aircraft carrier” on behalf of US imperialism. But also by targeting and criminalizing any militant, anti-imperialist organization that intervenes and acts in the popular movement, as provided for in the recent decision of the State Department.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Comrades and friends<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u2022 At this point, we would like to make a special reference to the position of the reformist CPG on the issue of Palestine. The CPG is the party that from the first moment it promoted the line of “return to the 1967 borders.” It imposed this as a decision of the unions it controls, without, of course, any discussion within those unions. It presented it as almost self-evident, taking advantage of the fact that other left-wing forces were following this line. We were the first and only ones to openly oppose this line and the much-publicized “two-state solution.” And we believe that the pressure we exerted was sufficient to limit the promotion of this position by the reformists for a while. However, and because this is imposed by the characteristics of this party, which wants to appear as a “responsible” force and official interlocutor with the bourgeois state (supposedly on behalf of the movement), this line has returned and, in fact, with particular prominence. Seeing the contradictions that were emerging between the imperialists, the CPG appeared as a defender of both “international legitimacy” and “bourgeois legitimacy.” Thus, on the one hand, it brought up the UN resolutions and decisions referring to a “Palestinian state within the 1967 borders” (684 in number, indicative of their real value) and, on the other, recalled the relevant decision of the Greek parliament in 2015. Indeed, with all due “formality” and in a completely “institutional” manner, the CPG took the initiative and co-signed a joint text with SYRIZA, Course of Freedom, and New Left, calling on the New Democracy government “to take active, urgent and clear initiatives to stop the genocide against the Palestinian people, address the humanitarian crisis, and recognize a Palestinian state within the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.” <\/em>In fact, he did not fail to address PASOK, Greek Solution, and Niki, criticizing them for not signing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n But where he really “excelled” was when unions he controls denounced protests against the arrival of the Israeli cruise ship \u201cCrown Iris\u201d in Crete, because they allegedly promote anti-Semitism! In other words, not only submission to bourgeois and international legitimacy, but also submission to bourgeois propaganda!<\/p>\n\n\n\n And if this reminds you\u2014given the current circumstances\u2014of the stance taken by the Communist Party of Greece and the Communist Youth of Greece in November 1973, we do not blame you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Comrades and friends<\/p>\n\n\n\n It is particularly significant and politically symbolic to talk about Palestine on the anniversary of the Polytechnic uprising. The heroic struggle of the Palestinian people for freedom is linked by a red thread to the November uprising. The Palestinian resistance movement ran parallel to the anti-fascist struggle in Greece. Both struggles were against American imperialism and its actions. It is no coincidence that the “Six-Day War” took place just a month and a half after the imposition of the US-backed junta. Besides, one of the reasons for imposing the military junta was to promote and facilitate US interventions in the Middle East and the southeastern Mediterranean.<\/p>\n\n\n\n However, we took the opportunity to highlight the Palestinian struggle during these days for another reason. To remind and remember the internationalist spirit that characterized the fighters of November, the inspiration that the heroic uprising of ’73 drew from the popular struggles that were unfolding at that time throughout the world. From the victorious course of the national liberation struggle in Vietnam and the defeat of American imperialism, which abandoned the region in 1973. From the student and popular anti-dictatorial uprising in Thailand in October of the same year, which led to the ousting of the dictator Krombitchit. From the imposition of the US-inspired Pinochet junta in Chile in September 1973.<\/p>\n\n\n\n All these events encouraged the November uprising and boosted the struggle against fascism and imperialism. It was all of these things that emerged from the slogans on the walls of the Polytechnic and the announcements of the Coordinating Committee. It was all of these things that gave the uprising the popular support it deserved and its historical recognition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Fifty-two years later, we honor the spirit of the November uprising, its anti-imperialist and anti-fascist character, wanting to join our voice with the struggle of the heroic Palestinian people who are fighting unwaveringly against imperialism and Zionism. We unite our voices with the millions of workers, people, and youth who continue to flood the streets in support of Palestine.
